If you want to have a Medium-style text-based blog that people can follow on the Fediverse, you might want to try these:
You can either join an existing instance, or set up your own.
They federate with ActivityPub-based networks such as Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica etc. so you can follow their blogs the same way you would follow a person.

Q: What do you do in your free time?
Chinese developers: What do you mean by 'free time'?
"A HTML standard called hyperlink auditing that allows sites to track link clicks is enabled by default on Safari, Chrome, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, but will soon have no way to disable it. As it is considered a privacy risk, browsers previously allowed you to disable this feature. Now they are going in the opposite direction."
One of the world's most important programmers, Linus Torvalds, says Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram are 'a disease'
Something when i'm viewing the FTL, fedilab can't load more toots due to network issue. In this case I have to restart fedilab and swipe many times to reach to the last toot I read, then fedilab can load older toots. This is sometimes inconvenient especially when I have been reading too many toots on FTL. Could you add a feature which fedilab can jump to a specified time, such as 4 hours ago, then start loading older toots from that time? Thank you for your fedilab! 😀

the most salient passage from this article, for me, is this one:
If we ask for features that help us and our admins to protect us we are told that if we want it that badly we should “fork” — Github issue list speak for “duplicate the entire project, code the features you want, and run it yourself.” Gargron says it, Gargron’s supporters say it. It’s realistic for them, because they have been coding for years. For a lot of them it’s their day job.
It’s a power play, because we wouldn’t be so desperate if we could code it ourselves — they have all the power and we have to beg them to help us. And they could help us, but they get to decide whether or not we get the features we need.
